As we head into mid May,  it's pretty clear what's ahead: BBQ's, flip flops, and sun-filled long weekends, the first of which is my favourite. You don't have to head up north with your camping gear to enjoy it. There is so much to do  right here in Oakville! Here are my 7 favourite local events:

#1   Spring Time On The Farm at Bronte Creek Provincial Park. This event runs from 12:00pm until 4:00pm on Victoria Day, Monday May 22nd. Think picnics, hiking, games, historical demonstrations and Playbarn. Head over to Visit Oakville to learn more.

#2   Get Planting with greens you pick up at the annual Bronte Village Mall's yearly plant sale hosted by the Bronte Horticultural Society. At the corner of Lakeshore and Jones from 8:30am until 1:30pm on Saturday May 20th.

#3   Tea Time at Bronte Creek Provincial Park is where you'll learn how to property make a cup of tea. Running daily from 11:00am until 3:00pm from Saturday May 20th through Monday May 22nd. Head over to Burlington.ca to learn more and add a spot of tea to your iCalendar.

#4   Grab Your Paintbrush and head over to Burlington Mall on Sunday May 21st between 2:00pm and 6:00pm. The Canada 150 Mosaic Mural project invites Burlington residents to paint their own tile to add to the mural. Burlington's mural will be made of 400 tiles. The event will be led by internationally recognized artists Lewis Lavoie, Paul Lavoie, and Phil Alain. Click here for additional details and the address.

#5   Show Off Your Red and White Downward Dog at Burlington Beach Rentals for Canada 150 - Karma Beach Yoga. Everyone is invited to celebrate Canada turning 150 by doning their red and white yoga gear for yoga on the beach at 8:15am on Saturday May 20th.
